I wanted to knock off some granite so I bought a $20 cobalt air hammer. Two shifts of four hours of uninterrupted work spoiled him badly. Umf is gone. Okay, maybe I should have read the instructions and added some lube. I did this before the second stretch and the strength returned, but not for long. I could restore it when I have free time. I've since paid $86 for an Ingersoll Rand and am quite happy with it. The job I do is non-stop, brutally carving stone. I'm sure the Kobalt will do an easy job but the Ingersoll Rand seems to last a long time. More weight and more power. 4 good turns on the rock and it's still pretty bouncy. I oiled it from the start so this review may not be entirely fair to the cobalt. The chisels of both fit on the new hammer. Now if someone could show me a chisel to go with this hammer that doesn't wear out I'd be happy. I have to sharpen a new edge every hour and they're getting short.
