I don't have short, fat arms, I have long, wide arms (not skinny, but neither fat, nor very wide, just wider than usual). The index and middle fingers of these gloves are not long enough for my fingers. The remaining fingers (ring, little finger and thumb) are quite long. The distance you can extend your thumb from your index finger in these gloves isn't very large (again, I have big hands). I can rip gloves open by fully extending my thumb and forefinger. For women and men who don't have large hands, they will probably fit you easily. If you have fat, short hands, they can work, unless your fingers are particularly fat. If you have long, wide arms, you're probably better off looking elsewhere. Not quite what I expected from L/XL gloves.
