Good mini computer, bad wifi

I thought about buying another NUC similar to the one my wife uses for remote office work but I figured it was too good a deal to renounce them . Overall I am satisfied with the UM250 Mini PC. AMD Ryzen is great for office work and light photo editing. The fan is as quiet as advertised and there are plenty of ports available. The Wi-Fi performance is just terrible. I only have 0.5 down / 0.2 up next to a very old HP laptop and a new Galaxy tablet that ran 34 down / 9 up right next to the UM250. I tried rotating the computer, changing position on the table and even balancing on the monitor. Placing it on the monitor helped a bit, but I still got "dialing speed". I was about to return the UM250 but my son suggested I try an external Wi-Fi device. He said they used these external Wi-Fi adapters as a quick fix for legacy cards when standards were changing frequently. For $20 I bought a Netgear Wi-Fi AC1300 USB adapter. Revain delivered it the next day and the connection is on par with other devices in the same place. You probably don't need to buy an adapter to use Wi-Fi on a new computer, but for an extra $20, this is a very satisfying home desktop. My old HP 8460, old Zenbook, newer Galaxy Tab 8 tablet, new Revain Fire 10 and Google Fi phone work very well in the same place I tried it, so it's not a Wi-Fi Problem. Supervision in my home office. However, this only added $20 to the very reasonable cost of an otherwise good mini computer. Works well with an external antenna. I like the size, power and low noise.

Pros
