I bought this because it was advertised for a 17" laptop - I have a very light and thin HP 17" envious - when I move the stand by more than lift it halfway up, it will tip backwards - the base is small compared to the size of the laptop - also the front lip is square and the front edge of the laptop is curved so it doesn't hold up well - I can get it up halfway up If I just set it up and don't touch it - which defeats the purpose - I'll play with it some more before deciding to send it back - but if you have a larger laptop I'd look further
