I have a Great Dane who gets pancreatitis when her diet gets too high in fat. She gets unlimited food 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but she just grazes and doesn't eat much. She started losing too much weight on low-fat food. She has shrunk to 85 pounds for a dog said to weigh over 100 pounds. The other problem is that she is 11 years old which is AMAZING for a Dane. So I kept her on a low-fat diet and realized that the only way to gain weight was through protein. I supplemented her diet with 5% fat canned food, just like her diet recipe at the same percentage. But she had way more protein than her diet. IT WORKS OUT! She loves it. She's looking better than she's been in months. Her energy level is also higher than in recent months, and anyone who knows the Danes knows her couch potato, yesterday she was walking through the backyard again. I couldn't be happier. The only problem I have is that the new batch of cans I just received had dents on one side. I will deal with Revane on this.
