Review on πŸ“± GRIPT Secure Smartphone Tripod Adapter: Ultimate Phone Hand Grip and Accessory Mount in Purple by Patrick Martin

Best tripod adapter

I've used a spring loaded tripod adapter for a while but was never sure of it and have only ever secured my phone in some way when it's dropped. And trying to take a portrait picture was out of the question. One of the springs broke. The adapter could still be used, but I no longer had confidence that it would hold the phone securely. There are no feathers! Just a solid C-lock construction of high-grade aluminum and a screw-down mechanism that seems virtually trouble-free in its simplicity. I think you could probably run it over with a car without taking any damage. The underside accommodates three of the most popular camera/tripod mounts, and there's enough room for almost any tripod screw length. Can anyone tighten the screw enough to damage the phone? I admit that this is possible, but not by accident. You must actively try to damage the phone. The jaws opened to easily fit my fairly wide Galaxy S6 (in the Speck case), with about an inch of room. Once the clips are pressed in, the phone is held securely with no wobble. I suggest always using it with some kind of buffer as the rubber pads on the clamps are designed to prevent slippage rather than cushioning. But almost everyone keeps their phone in a case, so that's not a problem. Tilt the tripod head to shoot in portrait mode with ease. The phone just couldn't slide out. The strap at the back seems to be secondary. It's really big enough to fit 2 fingers through. I believe it can be useful for handheld video recording. At the very least, it will save you from the sin of recording videos in portrait mode.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Legacy model
