Firstly, this is actually for the Hi10X tablet. It's a Windows tablet, which in itself is a big plus in terms of functionality/openness/backward compatibility, but a big minus in terms of resource usage. I bought this unit primarily to replace a 7" Dell Venue 8 pro 5855. (4GB RAM / 128GB Storage / 1080p) I use it mostly for media consumption and occasionally some light applications (ssh, email etc .) d) In that regard, this is a definite update. It has a good screen, plenty of RAM, and more than enough storage. I wanted a smaller, lighter x86/windows tablet, and it's probably the best in its class, now, where it's impossible to buy a 7"x86 tablet that doesn't use a 5 year old processor design. I find Surfaces and most competing cars too bulky to hold in bed or on a plane. That's why you see them always on tray tables and not on people's laps like you see with phones, firelighters, etc. However, this device won't win any awards for speed Once you put the idiotic virus scan and telemetry/espionage of windows d enabled and have a firewall set up to prevent downloading updates without permission/etc. to block, it can be fully used for most non-gaming tasks. Given that its processing power is probably higher than what most people had on Win7 machines 10 years ago, MS can only be blamed for the lag that is sometimes observed. OTOH, it's only a few watts of full thru, so about 20-30 times less power consumption compared to this 10 year old machine. The battery life is disappointing. This tablet is very power efficient, but that doesn't mean it has to come with a phone battery (which it actually does). By the looks of it, battery life ranges from 12 hours to an hour depending on what you're doing. Read a book 12+ hours, watch Netflix 10 hours, light web surfing 6-7 hours, watch videos in Firefox without hardware decoding 4 hours. Code compilation, about an hour (few laptops last long when two hours of code compilation is a lot). If this ran Android it would be a 12+ hour device, but Windows is happy to let random background tasks drain the battery or run software that keeps the kernel from sleeping between user interactions etc. Doubling the battery capacity would make this a tablet Make no -compromise device. Either way, the battery life is similar to most sub-$900 laptops. Although it comes with charging the battery, I wish it could be charged from a random 5V USB port. The box it comes with says 12v output which to my knowledge is not one of the standard USB PD voltages which would explain why none of my other chargers will work with the device. Yes, it has enough ports for most applications without the need for a bunch of dongles. I got the keyboard for it after owning it for a few days. It's also a good buy, although given the keyboard's size and weight, it had to pack a massive battery. It adds a couple of full-size USB-A ports, which are very useful. 5+ stars in the end, the only downside really is the battery life, which is fine as long as you're not trying to run heavy apps. The weight, form factor, and price more than make up for the battery life issues. Most of the other complaints are related to Windows (minimum backlight setting, etc.). That's the price you have to pay to avoid an apple orchard that makes simply copying a movie file to your device a pain, or Android junk that won't get updates in a few months, and a long list of feature bugs. BTW: the extra star for not simplifying the BIOS settings is insane.
