Review on Harris Solder Kit 5631 SSWF7 by Mark Powell

Works great even for a beginner.

Approx. We bought a generator last year to help with any planned outages. It's on our back deck. In any case, I wanted to lengthen the exhaust so I could take it off the deck. Unfortunately, the generator doesn't have a protruding tube that you can attach a flexible tube to. So I found a steel flange and pipe to do it myself. I could buy a ready made flange/pipe but I'm cheap and a handyman. And I've never welded/soldered so I bought a regular Bernzomatic propane torch and researched how to do it. I bought this flux and silver soldering kit. Propane isn't the best option (thick metal requires a lot of heat), there are better options, and since the flange was 1/4 inch thick it took quite a while for the metal to heat up enough for the silver solder to flow . But when it did, it did what it needed to do: the flux made it flow right through the tiny gap between the tube and the flange, and as it cooled I could see the silver solder on the underside of the flange around the joint . In short, it worked great for my purpose and we'll see how the joint holds up on the generator. It was a nice little project and this product got it right.
