Not for an airplane, for a car.
I wouldn't test it on the plane but it's great for car rides, protects the bike and is easier to stow in the trunk. I used it with a Fuji Gran Fondo, frame 56cm, I removed the wheels (quick release) but only turned the steering wheel, not removed. It worked great and the bike was assembled in 2 minutes when we got to our destination.
