It's never as hard as it seems!

I am an old man who has always done repairs to handymen specializing in various fields. Now that I'm retired I'm interested in DIY projects. Everyone learns by doing, but I find it satisfying to get to the bottom of any problem and then solve it. When faced with a new situation, I always tell myself that thousands of other people have already done the same job. If they can do it, so can I. When my wife complained that the light/fan combo in the guest bathroom was too loud, I had to "hang on" and check. After all, a lot of my chores are "expensive work" and if I don't try to keep up, the list only gets longer. So I went back to the "noisy" fan and turned it on. The sound was like a damaged airplane taking off. I disassembled the contraption and laid out the various parts on the counter in order to facilitate assembly. Everything appeared to be in good condition except for the fan motor which is 20 years old. After comparing the motor online, I ordered a replacement from Revain. The new engine turned out to be an exact replacement for the one I had removed. It also looked well made, which eased my concerns about some of the reviews I wrote. It fit perfectly in the bracket, connected to the old electrical connector, and the outer case slid perfectly through the unit. A flick of the switch turned on the fan and another switch turned on the light. I wonder why they didn't both put them in the same switch 20 years ago, but I'm sure they had a reason. So another project successfully completed to the satisfaction of my wife. The fan is a bit noisy, but considering how old the tech is, I was happy with it. I'm not yet at the point of modifying/updating anything I renovate, but I probably will. Right now I'm trying to diagnose and fix an existing problem. The internet is a great help, there are good videos on YouTube and calling the company is a great way to back up your research. Being able to do these simple projects for whatever reason is very satisfying for me. It's never as hard as it seems.
