It's a great solution to take with you on trips and has a built-in hands-free GPS solution (with your mobile phone and Google Maps). The metal plates are very thin and fit into any phone case, the grip is very strong, the phone does not slip and stays in place. I tried using my Garmin GPS on a recent trip to Iceland where I took 8 people on a bus, but the GPS maps were so cumbersome to use that I ended up using Google Maps for navigation. I wish I had this product with me, but now it goes in my noise-cancelling headphone case along with a USB car adapter. The metal plate just always stays in my phone. Due to the nature of the design, overall stability depends on how well the vents stay in place in your car, they can tip over and move the phone around a bit, but I found this very useful. Some other people have commented that the clamp is not optimally designed, its grip is essentially only in one spot at the top, the clamps need to be squeezed in parallel for a better grip, but I found it tight enough to hold on to. An additional comment after using it for some time: When I used it in Florida and left it in the car, it basically melted into the air vent louvers because the soft plastic pad melted in the heat. There should be a more durable material like silicone.
