They are good for what they are made for.

Like many beginners, I sometimes think a product fits my needs, but I don't understand everything that's going on. I bought these thinking I could use them to connect my guitar to the XLR input on my speaker system, but that's not a good idea. The Gutar cable's unbalanced 1/4" plug doesn't match the impedance of the XLR jack - it just has too much juice. So when I switched from one pickup to another after plugging it into the guitar, I got a droning sound with each click, and when I turned the volume controls on the guitar, there was a popping and popping sound coming out of the speakers. This didn't happen when I plugged the guitar into the 1/4" line input. I was confused until I found out about the power incompatibility and impedance result. However, I also had an old 1/4" plug mic. I thought this mic was a dead duck as it had very little volume when plugged into the 1/4" input, even when I switched the input from line to mic but when I plugged the mic into one of these babies and it ran it through XLR the input comes alive again! The volume was just great! I would recommend this product for this purpose and it is for mic use only and not left as an instrument. Then I also found out that in order to solve the impedance problem with the guitar interface via the XLR input, I needed a "DI box" and Revain has several of these. I ordered one, but it has not arrived yet I will report the result in a review of this product.
