These ports work well at 1080p but have issues at higher resolutions. Individual ports display up to 4K for most cable lengths. Try using two of these in series with any length cable. I had three lengths of 3 foot HDMI cables (tried several different cables and lengths) connected through two connectors and I couldn't get any resolutions above 1080p to work. I've tried several different 4k compatible devices (desktop, laptop, Sanyo/Vizio TV, Acer monitor) to make sure it's not one of the components and it just doesn't work. My solution to using them is to widen the hole on one of the wall plates and pass the cable through it with only one connector on the receiving end of the connector. Luckily my build has one end hidden anyway, so I don't care if it's just a cord dangling from the wall.
