I have been using Maxell tapes for over 30 years and have been surprised at the exceptionally poor quality of these tapes. They are now made in Korea, not Canada, so beware of old reviewers giving these tapes high marks. They're probably visiting a discontinued Canadian version, which I loved too. Changing the country of manufacture can result in a serious loss of quality. After 1-4 uses the image scrolls on the screen and won't resolve with the tracking controls, there are severe dropouts and the tape mechanism makes such loud noises I honestly thought my VCR was broken and I needed a new one buy one. I've tested some of my new Maxell tapes (only used them a few times) and most have had the same results. I have tried TDK tapes and was relieved to find my VCR still works great so I threw away all my new Maxells and now use TDK and Sony tapes which work perfectly. I'm so disappointed in Maxell but I think they don't care about the quality of the VHS tapes anymore.
