chain not connected to the top. The instructions say to break the chain with pliers and connect it to the top. This is not an easy task, the chain is very ribbed and difficult to open and over the course of several attempts I marked the connecting chain with pliers. I couldn't open the chain so I couldn't attach it to the top so it's frustrating. Now I have to go to the hardware store to buy a piece of chain that is easier to open and use. This light comes with two installation methods: direct wiring or hook and wall socket. (Not mentioned in the description) There is a long copper grounding wire twisted into the chain and if you don't mount it directly you will need to cut it off. I'm not going to use this light in a way that plugs directly in, I was just looking for a cool lamp to plug into the wall. The process of untangling even the copper ground wire was excruciating. In my opinion, the seller should let you choose which connection method to use when purchasing this lamp. I'm stuck with this for now, but I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I regret buying this lamp. The lamp itself is very pretty, but the connection is just terrible!
