Review on Klipsch RP 500C Center Channel Speaker by Nicole Shrestha

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Klipsch performs its premiere reference title

I have owned Klipsch for over ten years. During that time I had 3 different lines of surround speakers, 2 subwoofers and Pro Media computer speakers. I've heard many others but I just love the Klipsch sound. My most recent upgrade was from the Icon line (predecessor to the Refrence line) to the Refrence Premier line. I replaced my front channels (KB-15) with RP-160m last year and they are fantastic. It was a massive update. The downside is that they set my KC-25 center channel to midrange. It's not bad at all, it just can't compete with my new RP speakers. The middle started to appear dull and muted in comparison. The center should lead, but is pushed to the back on both sides. It needs a stronger center. When I first started looking for a new center I knew I would stick with Klipsch. The only question was which one. Available space and price limited the choices to RP-500 and RP-600. The 500 was over $100 less and got good reviews, so I went with it. Once I received the speaker (purchased from third party IQ Home Entertainment), I wasted no time plugging it in and trying out a few different movies and music. I immediately heard the difference between this column and my last one. It was as if someone had been in front of the loudspeaker before, but now stepped aside. Voices are much louder and clearer. Now I hear a lot more depth and breath in the voices. The deep and serious voices are much deeper and thicker than before. This is undoubtedly due to the significantly larger frequency range of the RP-500c. It can sound much lower and higher than my previous speaker. I would be disappointed if it was just a small difference but thankfully for the price I paid it was totally worth it. It all sounds so good now that I can't imagine feeling like I wanted or needed more. I was also pleased to see that the build quality was on par with my new bookshelf speakers. Same colour, same smoothness and very attractive copper woofers. The only difference is the additional copper rings surrounding the woofer and tweeter. The Reference Premier line is a big step up from my Icons, which I've replaced. Additional costs are visible and audible through and through. Absolute premium look. For me, Klipsch means clear and pure sound that just makes you smile and feel comfortable listening to your favorite music and movies. Hear things the way they were meant to sound. High quality at an affordable price. The most important feature is fun. You'll want to hear it all again and enjoy every minute. That's what I want and expect from quality speakers and Klipsch never disappoints. Highly recommended.
