I destroyed such an antenna by connecting it to a 12V device. But I needed it for my GPS disciplined frequency source, so I got it as a backup. It sits on my roof under an empty overturned bath of oil and works great. I have about 25 feet of RG-6 for my lab. Yes, the RG-6 is 75 ohms and these antennas are 50 ohms. But that doesn't bother me, and a similar quality 50 ohm coax would be much more expensive and hard to come by because 75 ohm is so common in satellite and TV.
