Red with protruding hotplates

Red lifting food burned the ends when I first used it. I have a large one that I use in the oven and have never had this problem. The ends are white. At first I just thought it hadn't cleared but the second time I used it there was more of it and I stuck my finger under it and there were indeed holes where it had burned out. Now I have no money and cannot use it.
