Review on DS18 JL SUB10 Wrangler Subwoofer Enclosure by Justin Puranik

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Everything seems fine, but I have concerns.

I have a 12" hatchback enclosure in my 2020 Wrangler with no restrictions. Sounds great, but takes up a lot of space. for both sides - speakers included) Works SSV box that mounts similar to this one ($370 - driver's side only) and this one from the DS18. I don't know this brand but the photos look like a good solution. I was hesitant because there isn't much information about them, not even on the DS18 website, but I decided to give them a try. I'll share my first impressions - features that should have been in the description. I installed one in a jeep and they fit perfectly. They have a nice matte black finish that goes well with the Jeep's interior. They contain a 12 inch square polyfill mat. Poor - the description says the internal volume is 1 ft cf, the papers on the box says 0.5 cf. The description says they are coated with a "black spray liner". This suggests truck body type coverage - not in this case. It's more plastic-like and mostly smooth, seems to scratch easily (I can mark it with my fingernail). There are NO installation instructions. The mounting bracket appears to sit on top of the "bed rail" where it is sandwiched between the top and body of the jeep. It would have been helpful to know this information before I bought it. I live in a cold climate and don't plan on removing the top for a few months so I can't install it now. I'm also concerned that they may interfere with the top and its ability to seal the case - hopefully not, I doubt Revain will be accepting returns within 2 months of purchase. It's more of a personal preference, but holy logos! front bottom and a chrome plaque with another glowing logo just above it, if that's not enough it's also up the back of the box and visible from the outside of the jeep. Other considerations: They stick out a few inches from the Jeep's body from the back seat to the cross member. This applies to all crates installed in this location, I just wanted to mention it because it poses a security issue - your subs will be seen by thieves. There is no chance my trunk cover will fit on it. I have a dual roof jeep and am concerned that this will affect the ability of the top to fold. I'll try to update this review after I install it. Bottom Line – If saving space in the back of your Jeep costs you $500 and some of the issues listed above are fixed after I install them, this is for you. Personally, I think I should have just considered the smaller hatchback-style box. Hope that helps!
