I only received this product at the end of the week. The instructions for use are minimal at best. And the only thing that gives at least an idea of how to open the case is the photo on the box. When I figured it out, a corner of black plastic broke off near the "On/Off" button. So I take the 2.5" drive that was originally in my laptop, put it in the case and plugged it into the USB 3.1 port on my personal PC (this PC actually has four USB 3.1 ports on the back and four more on the front). more USB 2.0 ports on So this USB 3.1 port is definitely powered according to the motherboard specs, but the PC will never see a new device the day before and will forget it sees the drive. So for $12 I feel like I have a lungful paperweight instead, I'll just buy something like one of Sabrent's hard drive docking/cloning stations, but then again, I feel like that purchase was a waste of the $12 that I paid!
