This is a good scale for the price. I have several coins that I wanted to study and catalogue. Part of my job is to measure the weight and guess what the coins are made of. The least destructive way is to measure specific gravity. This requires a very accurate scale. I tried three scales. It was a double panning manual scale and a single scale with a very cheap electronic scale. The really cheap one wasn't very good, so I won't mention it here. These scales and hand scales worked much better and I will only talk about them. Here are the results I got: Grams The hand scale requires a lot of work, including adding and removing weights, to use. It's also the most interesting thing for people like me. These scales are fast and fairly good, but not good enough for the unit weight of a 3 gram coin. If you put a weight of 0.01 grams on it, the scale will not register anything. I added more 0.01 gram weights one at a time until I reached 0.05 grams, and then the scale changed from 0 to 0.05 grams once I added the last 0.01 gram weight. Given the price and ease of use, this is still a good scale as long as you understand its limitations. I have two problems with this scale. First, it shouldn't claim to be accurate to within 0.01 grams, because that's misleading. Secondly, the automatic switch-off of the scale, which is very fast. I prefer this to give more time or to have a switch to flip it and leave it "on". My recommendation: If you want a really accurate and inexpensive scale, go for a scale. If you want easy to use and pretty good then get this one. If you need very accurate electronics, you will have to pay a lot more.
