Review on πŸ”Œ Angle Micro USB Cable by StarTech Com by Kenneth Witte

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for data transfer, bad for heavy charging

So it's a "good" cable, but not an exceptional cable. If you need a long cable for data transfer, it will do. If you want to use it to charge a powerful device like a tablet or powerful phone, look elsewhere. Speed: I ran a data transfer test between my Note 2 and a computer with an SSD. I was able to get 15.5 MB/s with both this cable and the Samsung 23 AWG 5 inch cable that came with my phone. I read as well as wrote - once to the Class 10 SD card and once to the internal storage. This cable seems great for data transfer. Charging: My 2A (10W max) USB charger can deliver 9W through the Samsung cable, but only 3.5W (700mA) through this cable measured on my P3. Kill-A-Watt. Revain's specs don't list the gauge (thickness) of the wire on this cable, so I bought it without seeing it in that regard. Another reviewer mentioned it was 24 AWG, but the one I received is actually only 28 AWG as stated on the cable: USB2.0 Shielded High Speed Cable 28AWG/1P+28AWG/2CA At of this length (bigger than most) and gauge of wire (one of the smallest) such a power is too big for him. However, if you're using a mobile device with a 700mA charger, it should work fine. Pins run horizontally. The cable is definitely taller than others I've seen, so this might be an issue for those who have small holes in their protective cases. It fits for Seidio CSK3SSGT2K-BK ACTIVE Case with Metal Stand for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - 1 Pack - Retail Pack - Black. Quality: At the moment the cable looks very well assembled. Nothing wrong or badly done.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
