Review on 🎬 Punch-Drunk Love on VHS by Denise Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

In its class All on its own

The first time I saw "Punch Drunk Love" was not much more than a year ago and having only reviewed it now, I can say that this is about the most unusual of all the original comedy-drama novels out there. A film about whimsical style, overcoming personal mistakes, redemption and the possibilities of an unlikely romance. The film begins with no title or credits, then builds without a premise or plot and moves entirely on its own, driven by the cuckold Barry, who is thrown off balance by the presence of seven sisters who constantly pester him with what he is does where he is is. walk. And why is he wearing that blue suit? Judging by one star's ratings, many people lack vision or a simple understanding of cinema as an art. There should be an age limit for watching adult films. I'm sure the one star ratings are from kids looking for explosions or simple action. The visual action and sound style really make this movie work. I can't imagine having to watch this with subtitles and no sound. It would be like watching it blindfolded. There are some good episodes, notably Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Man With The Mattress. It's a good movie and I don't even care about Adam Sandler. Emily Watson is perfect for the role of a hunky lover who loves Barry's tormented soul unconditionally.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly
