We bought this PaS (point and shoot) camera for a vacation. My previous camera is a Sony DSC-W7 and I expected the new one to be at least as good. Surprisingly, the new DSC-W-290 exceeded all my expectations. The camera is good, light and very portable. The photos are really incredible! You feel that everyone is better than the last. The menu offers a variety of functions that are more than enough for the category to which this camera belongs. I was at the crossroads between this and Canon, but after some testing and comparison I think SONY has whetted my appetite. The camera has a quick response and responds well to your parameter changes. The display is nice and bright. The battery life is really great. Approx. 280 flash shots can be taken in one charge-discharge cycle of the battery! If you need even longer battery life, you can get a battery with a capacity of 1200 mAh or even more. This camera is really good for people who are not pros but want to get great shots every time they use it. The only small issue I have is the power button and aim button. They're a little smaller than we'd like, making them difficult to feel under your fingers when using the camera. I see that as a small disadvantage, because after a while you get comfortable with them. It just takes a little practice. Overall this is a 5 star ***** camera.
