Review on CDN IRXL220 Large Cooking Thermometer by Veronica Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Kitchen thermometer with a large dial.

© 2008, CDN IRXL220 ProAccurate Insta-Read Large Cooking Thermometer designed by Component Design. This food thermometer with a 1 5/8" wide scale is much larger than the previous I. thermometer purchased by Revain which turned out to be only 1 ¼" wide. The 3/8 inch width difference may not seem like much, but it makes this thermometer much easier to read than Farberware's 1 1/4 inch wide instant read large digital display grill thermometer. With both, the measured temperature can be between 0 degrees and 220 degrees. There seems to be a three degree difference between the large and the two small, so I have to believe the small. They each have a calibration lock nut on the back, assuming you have a reliable reference thermometer. The metal probe on each is about five inches long. Not for oven use. Use for stovetop cooking, grilling, or to press food in at least 2 ¼ inches (up to the groove on the leg) after food has been removed from the oven, microwave, smoker, or grill. After cooking, allow the food to rest for 10-15 minutes to allow the internal temperature to stabilize and the juices to redistribute. This makes the meat juicier and easier to cut. Five stars.
