I've been shooting with the 35mm 1.4 for a few months now and I have to say it felt a bit like 'coming home' when I started with this lens. Being a crop sensor lens, the feel of the 50mm equivalent was good. I've had a Fujifilm X100F for a long time, and while the fixed 23mm lens (35mm lens equivalent) was very good for travel and outdoors, I felt a little alienated. The 35mm 1.4 with its 50mm equivalent allows me to get a little closer to my subject and it takes great pictures. Its f/1.4 aperture makes me more comfortable in low light, much more so than the 35mm Fuji f2.0 (which I also have). Compared to the F2 lens version, the f1.4 lens is larger and doesn't focus as well. No one around will notice this, but I will say that I noticed the noise of the focusing when I first used the lens. I wouldn't say this is a reason not to buy it, in fact I mention it if you're buying a used lens without worrying that it won't be as quiet as the Fuji f2 lenses. If you don't plan on shooting in dark environments or don't care about the depth of field you can get with a f/1.4 lens, the f2 version is for you. 1.4 isn't weatherproof like f2, so that's something else to consider. As for the speed of the autofocus, I have no problems with it. I've heard that the latest Fujifilm cameras (XT3, XT30, XPRO3) focus faster than previous models with this lens. Personally, I love the 35mm 1.4 and value it most for the extra light I can muster - the 1.4 can give you a whole stop more light than the 2.0. It's a sharp lens with nice bokeh. If my lens is lost, damaged or stolen I would have no hesitation in buying another.
