Very high refresh rate, ideal for gaming

This review focuses on the SAMSUNG Odyssey G4 Series 25-inch FHD Gaming Monitor. It's an IPS display with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time. The monitor comes with a fully height adjustable stand. You can also rotate your monitor to landscape if you prefer. It has 2 HDMI ports and a display port as well as a headphone jack which I like to see on almost everything. This is G-Sync compatible thanks to the AMD FreeSync Premium system. However, I will say that Nvidia does not list this monitor as certified for Gsync, so keep that in mind. It will most likely work, but Nvidia makes no guarantees. My PC specs: AMD Ryzen 5600xGTX 1070 Ti16GB DDR4 Assembly was very easy. The monitor comes very well packed in styrofoam so it arrives safe and sound. It comes in just a few pieces and assembly is a few simple steps of assembling the stand and then snapping it onto the back. That's all. This monitor has a small control panel below the screen that you need to use to change all the settings. I didn't initially like not being able to see the controls, but they're surprisingly intuitive to use. One thing you need to do here is enable the Gsync or Freesync compatibility option if you want to use this feature and trust me you really want that. This will not work without first enabling the option in Settings. refresh rate and gsync. This is indeed a large number, but you may not need them. In general, FPS games benefit greatly from as high a refresh rate as possible. Not so much in other games, but there's definitely no hard and fast rule. That high refresh rate combined with Gsync compatibility means you're getting one of the smoothest gaming experiences you'll find anywhere, and going back to a regular monitor afterwards will be difficult. It looks so good with Gsync that it becomes buttery smooth as you move around the screen. One negative for me is the size of the monitor itself. It's an odd 25 inch size that doesn't quite match other monitors. I usually buy 24, 27 and 32 inch monitors, but I know there are others. Another downside for me is the 1080p screen. For now I've switched to 1440p on my main computer and I like the extra screen real estate it gives you, but it takes more power to get the same frames so it's a bit of handing over, which is better if you're using a card have the lower price range. One last thing to note: there is a pinch point on the back of the monitor. Do not put your fingers in the top of the bar it is attached to as this may cause problems. Overall, this is a very good monitor with a very high refresh rate, which is essential for some games or users. I think it works really well for what it is and I'm happy with it. I would definitely buy it again but for my purposes I would like it to be bigger or more of my usual size. Although this is a personal matter.
