Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Outlet Extender with USB C - Surge Protector, 5 Outlet Splitter, and 3 USB Charger - 1800 Joules Multi Plug Wall Adapter (Black) by Steve Guillen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I first put it in my study at home, but now it's in my EDC bag. Great product

I originally ordered this to clean up the wiring in a study where we have a desk with a computer, monitors and a printer. I've used a regular power strip and power adapters to charge phones and headsets. The wires were messed up. I ordered this one as I figured 5 outlets would be enough (although in fairness the monitor's power supply made one plug unusable until I just poked a wart onto a short power strip) for the desk as I don't like the power of the USB -Connectors no longer needed. Everything works fine, but note that two USB-A and one USB-C 3.1 amps SHARE. This means if all three are plugged in at the same time, each gets just over 1 amp. To be fair, with USB-C, which can (and should) power the current iPhone at 18W, 3.1 amps isn't enough, and even with just the iPhone plugged in, it's a bit slower. When all three plugs are used, the iPhone slowly charges via USB-C (or other port). I ended up connecting an 18W USB-C charger to this adapter (along with two monitors, a computer and a printer) to charge my phone at full speed. When my wife returned to the office the study room became less and less used and when I started traveling again this plug ended up in my EDC bag as it is very useful to have a small adapter that offers so many outlets albeit the USB ports are on the slow side of the spectrum. It's great for taking to a hotel room and hanging on the wall and I manage to charge everything I need to charge as well as keep my Sonos Move and noise machine running. This is a solid device that's well built and offers surge protection, which isn't always the case with devices like this.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • No machine
