Review on KYB SM5213 Strut Mount by Joey Gilbert

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good quality but requires additional parts to assemble bracket

I bought these along with new springs and struts to fit new components to the car. I figured that was all I needed to assemble the rack and then put it on the car. Unfortunately, you still need a few additional items. The first item is the lower bracket/shock disc. This is a large bowl shaped washer that is placed on the rack prior to assembly. This is an important part because if you don't have it when you drive over a bump, instead of lowering your stance to absorb the impact; The mount simply slides down the shaft. The second necessary item is a Belleville washer that is placed on the top of the bracket before the screw is screwed in. Neither was included. The instructions provided are of poor quality and do not relate to any specific item making the diagrams useless. I also found that my Haynes guide didn't help as it didn't show how to actually assemble the racks. I ended up disassembling the old racks to get the necessary parts that are not included in the kit. The quality seems to be good. The rubber on the mounts seems a bit stiffer than the original ones they replaced. The original was 18 so it could just be age.
