Love this versatile lens

I have a Canon 40D DSLR. Previously I used a Canon 17-85 lens and a Canon 55-250 lens. I've had this Tamron 18-270 for four weeks. I sold my Canon lenses and now only have a Tamron 18-270. So this lens has become my "running" lens. I like that I have the option to switch from wide angle to high telephoto. Some reviewers have complained about scaling difficulties due to the effort required. If you increase the range you want, it's fine. If you stop halfway to the desired area and then try to continue zooming, the lens will be difficult to move. This is a design feature that helps prevent lens roll. Focusing is a bit slower than my previous Canon lenses, but I can live with that thanks to the great feature that I now only need one lens. I now carry my flash where I used to carry another lens in my camera bag. Tonight I photographed a streak of moon and clouds at dusk. The moon was soft but still showed craters. The camera was manual and I used autofocus, so the softness may have been caused by not using a tripod and using manual focus. I am very happy with the versatile lens. I am very thankful and satisfied with the performance of the image stabilization (Tamron calls it VC, Vibration Control).
