I usually only write reviews after using a product for a few months, but in this case I'll make an exception. This printer has been up and running for a week now, but it took (I think) a few minutes to set it up. I need a wireless printer so I can print from both my desktop and laptop. Unfortunately this will not happen. The software does not recognize that the printer is connected to the network. I've tried both the manual method and the WPS method, but the Canon software doesn't recognize that the printer exists. I restarted the PC after adding it to my wireless network and Windows recognizes the wireless printer but requires the rest of the drivers to be installed. But the Canon software doesn't recognize that the printer exists, even though I opened the Network Connections screen and see that the printer is indeed connected to a Wi-Fi network. Plug in the USB cable and it will be recognized immediately. Because of all this hassle, he loses 2 stars from the start. Advantages: - Small space requirement. This is ideal for me as the printer will end up being relocated and the new space will be smaller than its current location. However, it fits in well with no major parts hanging and colliding. - Cheap. Definitely a disposable printer. Especially the currently advertised price. It would be cheaper to replace the printer than to replace the cartridges. Cons - useless software. See above for WiFi issues. It also comes bundled with common and often pointless malware. I installed the "full package" first and tried to figure it out. Later, I'll figure out what I need and don't need, and only reinstall what's absolutely necessary. - Noisy when printing. Much louder than the MX330 it replaced. The LCD screen is difficult to read. It could really use some backlighting. But at this price I don't see that. I've done all the test prints and so far everything is working fine. Will be updated if/when something changes. Update 10/21/2017 The printer didn't seem to like my old (ancient for an electronic device) router. A new router was bought, the WiFi part is connected and working properly. Added a star for that. But I've also learned that he's a bit picky about the paper you give him. He doesn't particularly like thick paper.
