Review on πŸ” Universal Clamp-on Mount Mirror - Fit System 1705 by Kev Mills

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Is a door missing? The viewing angle may not be appropriate.

This review does not constitute legal advice. Do your own research on local motor vehicle laws. I needed a mirror for my sedan because the driver's door was damaged and removed in an accident. I had to get around town and as far as I know cars have to have mirrors on both sides of the car. However, in my town it is legal to drive without a door (think jeep). Since the car's mirror is attached to the door, I needed a mirror to meet this requirement. I ordered the Fit System 1705 for this application. According to the description, it can be installed in many places on the car. I put it between the hood on the driver's side. First I raised the hood, tightened the floor bolts, attached to the hood and slowly lowered the hood to clamp the mirror between the hood and fender. The hood didn't close all the way, but I was driving on the freeway and it didn't budge. My complaint about this product is that due to the position on the hood I really couldn't see what was behind me. The viewing space was extremely limited. I've tried setting it up multiple times but never got it right so this might be my fault. I think the main application is use on the door and not the hood.

Pros
  • Mirrors and accessories
Cons
  • Not bad
