Goldwing GL1500 / Nice cover, sizes can be tricky with accessories

First Impressions. I bought this case looking for something heavier than usual. I've used another lighter material that actually fits the bike like a glove, but I've tried several of these over the past 5 years. Their fit was great, but longevity and colorfastness were an issue outside of Florida's weather and sunshine. They're about $35 each, this Dowco Guardian is $100. The Guardian's material is definitely heavier and seems to be really well made. It has a cotton panel to protect the windshield and other bottom material to protect hot pipes. The material is heavier but not heavy enough to make a PIA mount. I tried it a year ago, it was a lot heavier but so difficult to maneuver that I suspected I would rarely use it. The Guardian's weight is spot on. I didn't realize the usefulness of lightning bolts until I saw their location. This comes in handy when the bike is parked and you need to access the trunk or saddlebags and makes it easier to mount on the bike. My bike is GL1500 Goldwing. Dowco recommends the XXL version for this bike and the XXXL version for the GL1800. My 1500 has pins on the crankcase guard which makes the cover fit too tight on the saddlebags to use the zip. I ended up getting XXXL for my 1500 which solved this problem. It also offers a little more coverage on the underside of the bike. As for durability remains to be seen. It looks like it will hold up better than my previous finishes. With a lifetime guarantee, if there are any issues I expect it to be taken care of.
