I bought this to replace a broken connector on my boat's VHF radio antenna. Unfortunately, there were no instructions for the plug and there wasn't much information in the description. While it may appear that this connector does not require soldering, this is not the case. The body of the coaxial cable and the conductor of the outer sheath are mechanically clamped by a collet. The inner conductor must be soldered through the hole on the tab. The need to solder a conductor defeats the purpose of the collet. Either soldering is not required at all, or both conductors must be soldered. Also, the collet does not grip the coaxial cable tightly enough. I pulled out the cable with a slight tug and securely attached the connector to the cable.
