I bought these for my three grandchildren who are teenagers and teenagers. They really love them even though they are marketed for younger kids. The range is surprisingly good and the battery lasted the entire time they played outside (until the sun went down!). Having 3 colors is great so they can't argue about which is which. Much more sophisticated than the walkie talkies I'm used to and a great price as it's less than $10 per child! They will work for adults and probably children around the age of 8. I think I will also buy a set for my other grandchildren.
