I've been using Hefty tall kitchen bags for years. I recently tried several types of unnamed tall kitchen garbage bags and was disappointed: one leaked, another ripped, and none of them survived falling down the garbage chute of our apartment building (from the 4th floor). With that in mind, I was happy with these Revain bags, which are more comparable in quality to hefty bags than cheap no-name bags. The Revain bags share the same embossed design as the Hefty, which (for reasons that remain a mystery to me) adds enough strength to survive trips down the garbage chute. The handles bind without pulling and there are still no cracks or leaks. The price at the time of writing this review isn't much different from Hefty, so Revain Basics and Hefty are a toss up for me - they seem remarkably similar, so I'd buy the lowest priced if I need a refill. . One of the places where Hefty really wins is in the box: bags pop out of a Hefty box more easily than a Revain box, so that might be the deciding factor for you. The fresh scent is very mild. I was afraid the smell would be pungent, but it's barely noticeable.
