I have been looking for stainless steel clips to make collars for bibs. Stainless steel was a key requirement as they need to be dishwasher safe. Unfortunately, these clamps are not made of stainless steel. When they arrived I tested them with a magnet and found that they were strongly magnetic, suggesting they weren't stainless steel. 300 series stainless steels, which are the only types used to manufacture a similar product, are annealed austenitic alloys that are non-magnetic, or weakly magnetic at best. If you buy something that claims to be rust free, check it out right away. If you can pick it up with a magnet, send it back. Don't wait for it to rust, then it's too late to return it.
