I have already set up a reverse osmosis filter and a deionization filter for a marine aquarium to make salt water for water changes. A single reverse osmosis filter uses a lot of water, around 2-3 times the amount of purified water it produces. I took the effluent stream, removed the flow restrictor and routed the effluent to the second inlet of the reverse osmosis membrane. I moved the flow restrictor to this second RO membrane and combined the outlet with the first RO outlet. This doubles the yield of purified water and reduces the discharge of wastewater into the sewage system. Although it works perfectly, tds is about 3 from the combined RO output and 0 after the DI resin bed filter.
