Review on Akebono Ultra Premium Front Brake Pads: Unmatched Performance and Reliability by Louis Asok

I bought these to replace some of the horrible TRW pads I installed just 20 days ago. Akebono has a good reputation so I decided not to skimp on pads. I did a fairly thorough brake service, cleaned the slide pin cylinders with brake cleaner and cotton swabs, cleaned all the components with a wire brush, put new boots on the caliper slide pins and even put new bushings on the 2 guide pins with a rubber insert. So I just don't want to do it again anytime soon. So after installing new Centric Premium rotors and these pads, I'm off to check my work. SCRAPE SCRAPE SCRAPE SCRAPE Every time the wheels spin. Lots of jacking up the car, putting on the jacks, taking the tires off, putting the car in neutral and doing a little research. So it turns out the hardware that came with these pads hit the back of the rotor. I'm not sure how or why. But it's easy to fix. Put on the old fittings and lubricate them with molybdenum grease. Caliper bracket reinstalled, bolted in to 70 ft/lbs, pads reinstalled with new/old hardware, caliper reinstalled, bolted in to 20 ft/lbs. put the tire back on, tightened to 79 ft/lbs, jacked up the car, removed the jacks. I emphasize how much work had to be done because the Akebono obviously wanted to save pennies on cheap equipment. then I did a test drive. car and no more scratching. These pads are excellent. Very quiet, no grinding, good buy on rotors. Truly the best I've ever had. If you have a 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS, buy other equipment to use with these pads. You will thank me, as will your back, legs and arms.
