Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent cosmetics and build quality.

First: NOTE #1: The narrow end of the spring faces the faucet, the wide end goes into the tower. HELPFUL TIP #2: Faucet couplers are reverse-threaded. You must turn them counterclockwise to secure them. I found a very cheap mini fridge on my local craigslist and although it would be the perfect keg for my new home hobby. I've been brewing extract kits for a number of years, so to give you an idea of my level of experience. The other reviews for this product weren't very detailed, but I felt comfortable enough with the purchase. All in all I am very happy with my purchase now that it is installed. I will review the tower and provide installation materials, cosmetics, and features. Read the details below. TOWER AND INSTALLATION MATERIALS: At the time of purchase I didn't know the tower was insulated, so I discovered that both the top and walls of the tower were insulated with about 1/2 inch thick foam. was a pleasant surprise. The packaging was mostly adequate, but the box that the tower itself comes in is quite fragile and might even damage some of it with the protective bubble wrap. Mine was fine, but I'm sure a lot of people are familiar with the flimsy, white, uncorrugated boxes that Chinese goods typically come in. what the key was for. The installation of the tower itself will speak to anyone with a hand, but the taps and springs aren't entirely obvious. The screws provided are too short to install this on almost anything as far as I understand. I'm worried. They are less than an inch threaded and do not provide nuts. Allow at least another $5 for stainless steel bolts, washers, and nuts at your local hardware store. The turret/spacer accepts M5 screws (as supplied). Assuming you are installing like me in a mini fridge, get M5x.8 - 60 mounting screws. They should be at least 50mm (2 inches) long to go through the insulation at the top of the fridge. The turret is fairly well thought out, with a rubber grommet that fits between the turret and your chosen mounting surface, and a collar that sits at the base of the turret to hide the mounting hardware. The lack of installation material and manual was really the only disappointment with this whole project. Everything else was great. COSMETICS: 9.8 out of 10 points. I deal with a lot of chrome in my daily work and the chrome quality on this turret is top notch. The chrome finish is mirror finish which tells me they probably added a layer of copper underneath, polished and then applied the chrome. The tower and the crane handles look really spectacular. Minus 0.2 for almost imperceptible defects: one at the base of the tower, covered with a collar, and one at the junction of the outlet ledge with the tower. Neither is noticed; and for $80 I wasn't expecting perfection. Very very happy with it FUNCTION: It took me about 90 minutes to use a 2.5" hole saw to cut a hole in the top of the fridge (almost exactly the inside diameter of the exhaust tower) to install the ball lock fittings on the end of the ones supplied Line, run to the hardware store for new screws, install the tower and flush the lines with disinfectant. The springs provide enough pressure to close the cocks and keep them closed. I only have this one and it's been running for about 48 hours but I haven't seen any leaks (CO2 or beer). I would recommend getting a drip tray as the faucets drip. They don't leak, just the design of the faucet lets small ones out Volumes of beer flow out slowly about 15 seconds after pouring. I plan to buy it soon. With a purchase price of about $80 + 5 hardware I am thrilled with this exhaust tower. As any casual home brewer has probably noticed. Equipment can get VERY expensive. I'm not a diehard, but I like to brew a batch every few months. I can't justify spending $$$ on all the latest and trending gadgets. I think I have a pretty cool keg for about $100. Craigslist fridge for $20 and a pouring tower for $85. Not bad. I strongly encourage you to do the same. I've attached a video of the first pour and assembly as a whole.
