I had four palettes and only used a few shades of each so I wanted to minimize the space they take up. It holds 18 J* lights and still has room but not enough room for other J* pots. I had no problem getting them to stay where I put them and they close easily. My mirror was not deformed as I have noted with some reviewers. All in all, it does what it's supposed to do and doesn't cost too much, so I have no complaints.
