If you're on the fence, don't stand, that's good. I didn't want any granules or dust, it was perfect. If you need powder, just put some big ball bearings in a container and shake it. Microbes are active in this substance, so don't be surprised if your room starts smelling like a lake, it's literally absorbing and filtering water from the air. Love this product just be very careful with dust as it is not good, carbon itself is not bad at all just DUST. You have to rinse it well and I love the pouch that comes with it. I'm trying it for drinking water and it's amazing except that it feels like "brand new" the first time I use it, but I'm sure it will break. I'll check the expiration date but it looks great!
