Has great surface area when riding in flat shoes, excellent grip on shoes. Ideal for trail and short distances. If you turn around you can buckle up and ride in your cycling shoes. This is great for me because I ride short rocky trails for days and I want my feet free; Other days I ride on gravel and pavement. Just twist and you're done. My favorite feature is that they don't spin freely when you start spinning them, there is some resistance so you can easily get stuck or stay on the flat side. You look cute too.
