Sound quality for marine electronics

Just connected my new speakers. You've got something in the speakers and they're already sounding blown. Can this be an installation error? Or what comes on the speakers? Swapped the speakers, hooked them up and they sound the same. If you turn it all the way, the sound will be interrupted. They are definitely not 300 watts
