Review on 🍵 Breville BTM800XL Stainless Steel Tea Maker by Karla Richter

An automatic teapot that works really well

It's hard to make good tea. You just need the right temperature for soaking; Tea leaves should be able to breathe; and you must be sure to remove them at the right time. Besides, it's easy. This device tries to get art out of tea making. I mean well You tell him "Tea, black, medium", pour in the water and put in the tea leaves, and he does the rest. (Those interested can say "180 degrees, 3:30 minutes" instead.) He heats the water, lowers the tea basket in, leaves it for the allotted time, pulls it out again and beeps. They pour tea. It can keep what's left warm for you. In fact, it works amazingly well. Even delicate green teas are fragrant and fresh. Black teas are indigestible (unless you ask, of course). You can easily brew one cup (so two cups of tea) - although only the bottom of the basket is in the water, brewing still works well. Or you can make a dozen cups; There is a mode that constantly moves the basket up and down in the water to ensure maximum contact. For me, perhaps the best feature of this device is also debatable. automates the process of tea preparation; You can set it up, walk away, and when it beeps, your tea is ready to drink. This takes the ceremony out of brewing tea. Without the 'get basket when it's time' feature, you pretty much have to stand and watch the tea brew. A minute of contemplation and reflection, all erased by technology. I think that's progress. Of course nothing is perfect. The carafe itself is easy to clean, but the used tea leaves will stubbornly stick to the inside of the metal basket and require vigorous scrubbing with a suitable kitchen brush to remove. That's a bit annoying. Perhaps Breville should develop a specially shaped brush for this basket. (Maybe someone else?) Of course you can let the tea dry in the basket and then it will fall out immediately, but that takes hours. Five stars for tea quality, design and general comfort. One star deduction for the hassle after cleaning the tea basket. Very good device. Also recommended for picky tea lovers. Cheers - Perry
