Very limited use, only works when the ladder is in the stepladder configuration, even then it can be hit very easily and anything on it will crumble. Buy an extension tier instead of this tray. It works the same way but is designed to hold one person so you can stand in both the stepladder and extension positions for long periods of time without injuring the arches of your feet. I've used it when scraping paint off my house before painting and I've been able to stand up stairs comfortably for long periods of time. As mentioned, this stand is a similar shelf. Attach a magnet to it and it can fix steel objects in place.
