When the collar is pulled back to the middle T, it locks the leash in place with no leaks. A small horseshoe shaped clip is added to allow the collar to slide and lock. I have used them with stiffer Icemaker type plastic cords and soft flexible black cords for outdoor garden watering. I've had this setup all summer with no problems. The connections stayed in place and did not leak. I can also easily disconnect when needed.
