Although my neck measurement is 14.5 inches, which is an average size, I bought a large one so I could slip some thin gel ice packs into the mask. The swelling is so severe the skin becomes rock hard and the only relief is VERY cold compresses pressed FIRMLY into the skin. Instead of holding the compress in place to apply pressure, this tape does it for you. Frostbite was not a problem as the swollen fabric is so warm it heats up the packs in minutes. I found the small round ice packs fit perfectly in this case.
