I got the SVS Prime 5.1 package a few days ago and I have to say it's AWESOME! I was looking for a speaker set to replace my 10 year old Take Classic 5.1 set after one of the speakers started whistling. Take Classics was a great budget set, but this set is a notable upgrade for the mid-range 5.1 system. Anything beyond that will ruin most people. The main difference between the SVS and my old Take Classics was that they deliver a lot more bass from the satellites as they reproduce sounds down to 60Hz. My takes crossed at 110Hz, leaving the subwoofer to compensate for the mid-bass sag. You can really tell that mid-bass is coming from all around you. This is even more noticeable in the center channel, where dialogue at low volumes was sometimes difficult to understand. Dialogue is full, clear and easy to hear with these SVS speakers. The subwoofer is just awesome! Obviously it's 4 inches taller than the 8 inch Take Classics and with a more powerful amp. This subwoofer sounds much quieter, with no sags or hum due to port resonances like the takes. should not sag as much in mid-bass, resulting in more accurate bass response Additionally, this sealed box results in tighter bass response when listening to pop, rap, and electronic music. I am very happy with my purchase.
