I purchased this in March 2016 along with a French Press. As a former user of automatic drip coffee makers, I wanted to start using something more useful than the hard-to-clean machines that are so common in every home. I've read a lot of pros and cons of french press vs coffee filters and? (You name it) and decided to try this apiary and French press. I bought CoffeeSock Drip #2 Cone-GOTS reusable coffee filters made from GOTS certified organic cotton (I didn't want to buy disposable filters anymore) to go with the apiary and I'm very happy with its performance. The apiary fits my standard sized coffee mugs, and the "windows" in the bottom make it easy to avoid overfilling. I didn't bother buying the fancy kettle that coffee drippers seem to necessitate and used a standard kettle instead. I just pour slowly, little by little, until the cup is full and it's a nice, smooth cup of coffee. Easy to clean. I just take out the filter, rinse the apiary and put it down the drain to dry. The apiary is ceramic, so you can't throw it across the room into the sink, but it won't break just looking at it either. It's nice to use when you want a smooth cup of coffee and only want to brew a few cups. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to do without coffee machines.
